Sopapillas
2 Cups flour |
1 Tbsp baking soda |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 Tbsp Shortening |
2/3 cup lukewarm water |
Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt
Cut in Shortening
Gradually add water while stirring with fork
Kneed into a ball
Cut dough in 2
Let stand 10 minutes
Roll out dough onto Floured surface to make a 12 1/2” by 10” rectangle
Cut into 2 1/2” sqiares
Drop into 425F deep fryer
Turn frequently until golden brown
